DC style

I love traveling although, I don't get to do it as often as I would like. Next week I am going with the 8th graders to Washington, DC. I know, field trip chaperone, the glamorous life of a teacher. What can I say? However, DC is probably one of my most favorite places. I get to be a total history nerd and no one judges me for it. If I didn't teach Spanish, I would love to teach history. Bonus is that I also get to spy on new fashion trends. I was there in November and these were all the rage:

They are still on my wish list but I'm going to wait until the fall to purchase a pair.

I am excited to see what is trending there for summer and I am starting to think about what to pack. Of course, I want to be cute but I also need to think about comfort, we will be walking all over the city from sun up to sun down. Here is what I'm thinking:

And a little of this:

With a little bit of these:

We will also be going on a dinner cruise. I am going to recycle this Prabal Gurung for Target dress that I wore for Jorge's graduation:

4 more days

My Friday face:

Shirt: Old Navy
Necklaces: Groopdealz ***
Pants: Old Navy (Old)
Shoes: Tory Burch

**A note about Groopdealz. They are a website that offers deals for a limited time only. I buy a lot from there but more than likely by the time you are seeing it, they have already finished the deal. There are several pieces that I have bought from them that they have put back on sale at a later time. If nothing else, sign up for their daily emails. At times shipping can take a while because of the volume of sales but if you can wait, the prices can't be beat!

Noonday

So I am headed to a Noonday party tomorrow. For those of you who don't know what Noonday is, check out their fabulous website Noonday Collection. Noonday is similar to Stella and Dot and other such companies in that people host trunk shows in their homes. The difference with Noonday is that they provide jobs for artisans in other countries as well as help families raise money for adoption and a bunch of other awesome stuff!

I have been trying to decide between these 2 necklaces:
 Tough call, huh?

What do you think?

Mixing it up

Today's OOTD (outfit of the day) is my take on the neon and metals trend. I wouldn't normally put these two things together but I am trying to stretch myself.

 shirt: Ann Taylor Loft
pants: Old Navy (no longer on their website)
necklace: Groopdealz
shoes: Tory Burch

Be brave

At first I was a little intimidated to write a fashion blog. I mean I certainly don't think I am the most fashionable person I know, I do have some pretty fabulous friends after all. But fashion is something I have always loved, even when I rocked these in the 80's:

Another thing is that I haven't always felt confident enough about my outward appearance to think I could start a fashion blog. But my love for clothes has always been there, just ask my husband or my parents how many closet bars I have broken with all of my clothes. There are certainly tons of other fashion blogs out there as well but sometimes in life, just like with fashion, you have to take risks. Those of you who follow me on Instagram know that that I took this fashion risk a few weeks ago:

The high-wasted pants. One of my Facebook friends reminded me that Express sold a pair like them in the late 80's/early 90's.
Totally rocked them back then too.

So here I am taking a risk and putting myself out there.

Online shopping addict

Jorge and I have a running joke in our house that I get a package in the mail every day. When I don't get one he says I didn't meet my quota for the day. He may be exaggerating a little but not much. I think Kim Kardashian said it best:

Shopping online IS like the greatest invention of life. Anyway, I just got these white Old Navy pants in the mail yesterday. I bought a navy blue pair a few weeks ago and fell in love. They are super comfortable and light which is muy importante here in the south in the summer. I am not sure I will pair them with a flowy top again. I don't know that it is figure flattering. Next time I will wear them with a more fitted top.

Pants: Old Navy, sweater: Target, Top: Target, Necklace: (so old I can't even remember!) I got this orange one a few years ago before this layered necklace became super popular
Shoes are also Target, you can't seem them in the picture but I wear them all.the.time. I was hesitant because I usually don't do heels because I am on my feet all day and so I need comfort. These have a very wide wedge so they make wearing them all day easy on the feet and back. Also, an added bonus is that I am taller than more of my students this way. In other words, run don't walk to get a pair, in every color.

Tuesday? Already?

The long weekend always gets my days all thrown off.  Is it Tuesday already?  We had a pretty relaxed weekend which was much needed after the craziness of graduation, end of the school year, etc.

I am trying out a new camera, cell phone quality pictures were not cutting it.
Shirt: Banana Republic, Necklace: www.groopdealz.com,  Pants: Old Navy, Shoes: Tory Burch

Happy Ruffle Tuesday Ya'll!

Ruffle Tuesday

This week's Ruffle Tuesday outfit was a super comfy dress from www.target.com and a necklace from www.groopdealz.com. Groopdealz is one of my favorite sites to get cute clothes and accessories. Shipping can sometimes take a while but if you aren't in a rush, you can usually get great deals on popular items. Shoes are my go-to gold Jack Rogers

EOG week

Here we go, my first post of what I hope to be many. I have tried to start 2 other blogs one about crafting and one about our life but I got busy and abandoned both. I hope this blog will be a place where I can post fun pictures and get inspired. I am not an expert a blogging so please bear with me as I figure it out.

EOGs are no fun. I need to have something fun to wear to make it through the week.

Since my in-laws just left, I thought I would pull out this fabulous top that they gave me a few years ago. It is from Chiapas, Mexico. Pants are Old Navy, shoes are Tory Burch
